The InvestEU Programme gives an additional boost to investment, innovation and job creation in Europe over the period 2021-27. It aims triggering a new wave – more than €372 billion - in investments using an EU budget guarantee

On 20 June 2023, the Commission put forward a proposal for a Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform (STEP) to boost investments in critical technologies in the EU. InvestEU is one of the EU programmes that will be reinforced to promote STEP investment via a new dedicated STEP policy window, with an additional EU guarantee of €7.5 billion. The STEP policy window will support the development and manufacturing of deep, digital, clean technologies and biotechnologies and their value chains, and related skills agenda for these technologies. The available EU guarantee under the InvestEU Fund will be increased to €33.7 billion.

InvestEU will support the Green Deal Industrial Plan to enhance the competitiveness of Europe's net-zero industry and the fast transition to climate neutrality.
